Mission Trip to Louisiana on Feb 11 & 12

*NEW DATES!*

Hurricane Ida Cleanup in LA Mission

Fri & Sat, Feb 11 & 12, 2022

(The good folks at Algiers UMC are hosting us again!

Algiers Point is the second oldest neighborhood in New Orleans, established in 1719! Yes, that's just over THREE HUNDRED years ago.)

Please forward this on to anyone that you think might be interested in helping out. Thanks!

"As you know, Hurricane Ida hit the gulf coast of Louisiana on 29 August 2021 and caused a lot of damage that is STILL being cleaned up to this day. With this series of missions, we're going to offer the survivors some hope and a little help by either cleaning up some of the mess or perhaps even putting a tarp on a damaged roof.

We don't know which United Methodist Church will be hosting us yet, but it's only 2-3 weeks away now... perhaps you are ready to join us?

Here's how it usually goes:

- First, we drive over there and eat lunch before we get there --- thus far it's been about 250-300 miles each way.

- When we get there, we talk to them a bit to hear a story or two.

- And then we get to work on a project for the rest of the afternoon.

- They graciously provide us dinner and perhaps several deserts as well.

- The next morning after breakfast, we either finish what we started the day before or perhaps we'll have another project altogether. It's been different every time.

- They sometimes feed us lunch before we depart too.

- And then we drive home Saturday afternoon.

We will be doing outside work like cleaning up tree debris and /or putting a tarp on a roof or both; basically, whatever they need.

When: Friday - Saturday, February 4 - 5, 2022

Approximate Schedule:

Depart Crestview: 6am Friday

Arrive _____ UMC: by noon Friday

First shift: 1-6pm Friday

Second shift: 8am-1pm Saturday

Depart _____ UMC: 2pm Saturday

Arrive Crestview: 8pm Saturday

Rachel the Louisiana Conference Disaster Response Coordinator always find us the best place for us to go, and when I know, I'll let you all know too.

We'll be operating out of the _____ UMC and staying there overnight, we need to bring along our own air mattresses and bedding (sleeping bags) and they will be providing a us some floor space, restrooms, and showers and a few meals to boot.

If you want to know how the first three trips went, then definitely ask Kyle Lusk, Paul Adams, Pastor Ronnie, Carson Hale, Jody Woodward, and/or David Hill about their experience.

Please consider making this trip with us ... or ... perhaps the next one ... if you let me know when you're available, then I'll try to schedule it around YOUR schedule.

Please forward this on to anyone that you think might be interested in helping out. Thanks!

In Christ We Serve,

Scott Sallberg
