God’s Word and Me: Growing in the Bible, Led by Pastor Ronnie Bearden: This study is all about the Bible itself. The primary purposes of the class are a) to understand and grow in love with God’s Word and b) to learn to use God’s Word that I may grow in faith. We will look at the following issues: Choosing a translation, How is the Bible organized, using an exhaustive concordance, Bibles in devotional life, smart phone/tablet apps, How did we get from the original document to the Bible in our hands, how books were chosen to be in the Bible, the nature of the Bible, and how can I use it to grow in my faith? The only required textbook for the class will be a Bible, but many tools and reference works will be explored. We hope every church member and visitor will go
through this study as we consider this class to be part of the basic Discipleship of our church. It has been taught before and people may take it again if they like. Crossroads Center/Asbury Room
In the Footsteps of Paul, Led by Eddie Hager: David Suchet (Agatha Christie's Poirot) sets off in search of one the great figures of the Bible St. Paul the apostle. Controversial in his own time, Paul remains so today, a remarkable man of contrasts and confusions, a persecutor of Christians who experienced a miraculous conversion and an all-consuming drive to spread the faith. Body & Soul Led by Sara Fordyce & Nell Sutherland: In this Bible study from author and speaker Lisa Whittle, discover how Scripture talks about our bodies, from creation to Revelation. Learn to reconcile your body with the rest of who you are, growing in a deeper understanding of your true identity as a whole person created in the image of God. Over this session, we’ll get real about Scripture and we’ll get real about living out our faith in the bodies we have. Join Lisa and uncover the truth about our bodies, exploring how every curve, every scar, every wrinkle is a testament to how God is shaping us. Body and Soul is an invitation to step into a journey of self-discovery, faith, and radical reconciliation. Crossroads Center/Room 402
Not My Jesus, led by Jody Woodward: To know the real Jesus, we must see Him through the pages of the Bible. This Jesus doesn't change based on our feelings or opinions; He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Only this Jesus can save and transform our lives. In this Bible study, you will identify ways that many misunderstand
Jesus by comparing the Jesus of Scripture to counterfeit versions shaped by preferences, opinions, and culture. This is a class for young adults ages 18 to 28 years old. Crossroads Center/Rm 403
The Prophets: God's Truth Tellers led by Susan Hill: In the Old Testament alone we have the writings of at least sixteen prophets. What kind of people were they: eccentric doomsayers or faithful truth tellers? And why were their messages so crucial that God appointed them specifically to speak? More importantly, do they have anything to say to God’s people today? From Elijah to John the Baptist, this studyguide will help you listen anew to God’s truth as you look at the lives of thirteen prophets and the major themes of their messages.
