Food Drop on Saturday, April 10

drive up food drop.jpg

Our next Feeding the Gulf Coast Food Distribution is happening THIS SATURDAY on 10 April at Spanish Trail Park Amphitheater.

Current word is that we will once again be receiving 15,000 pounds. We start at 7am and are usually done by 11am if all goes well...if you can only make a portion of the time that is great too.

We will definitely need parking lot helpers, people to help with registration (go car to car and fill out paperwork), and a few people to help with bagging any miscellaneous bakery items that arrive, car loaders and then traffic control.

Please contact Kristen at sallbergs@yahoo.com if you can make it or if you have any questions!

Please help get the word out to your neighbors, friends and family for anyone who might have a need!

Future Food Drops are scheduled for May 1 & 15.

Sam's Obituary:

MSgt (USAF - RET) Samuel Wayne Field, 63, was called home to the Lord on Friday, February 19, 2021 after a short illness.

He leaves his wife of 45 years, Julie Frakes Field, his sons, Samuel Field II and Benjamin Field (Heather); his daughter Elizabeth Grandstaff (Ryan); 7 siblings, Charlene Spring (Dave Hutcheson); Renae Rosenbalm (Kevin); Donna Faircloth; James Bramlett (Betty); Christiane Cornish (Mike); Michael Field (Melissa); and Doris Miles; 8 grandchildren Tyler, Alyssa, Brittany, Tatum, Kayla, Tristan, Kimberly, and Samantha, as well as many nieces and nephews. Sam was proceeded in death by his parents, 1SG Wesley Field (Inge) and Betty Kirkland (Austin), and siblings Wesley Field and Laura Reynolds.

Sam was born September 28, 1957, in Clarksville, TN and raised in Columbus, GA. He graduated from Jordan Vocational High School and then served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, which took him and his family all over the country. After retiring from the Air Force in 1997, Sam moved to Crestview, FL. He started a second career with the Okaloosa County Department of Corrections and again retired in 2014.

He found his calling when he, along with his wife, became members of First United Methodist Church and became active in several different church activities. Nothing brought him greater joy than helping and serving those around him. He looked forward every Sunday to greeting the parishioners as they arrived for service. Sam had a true servant’s heart and loved giving his time and energy to those less fortunate and enjoyed the company of his church family. He appreciated his experiences in his life and how they led him to a position where he could help others.

Sam, also known affectionately as Wayne by his family, had a great love of kidding around with family and friends and never met a stranger. Family was especially important to him, and he cherished spending time with his. He was active in coaching and mentoring kids in youth sports and provided wise council to them throughout life. He loved earning the title of Dad but was over the moon when he earned his “Papa” status. He was like a kid teaching them how to ride bikes and pulling them around in his red wagon. He always loved to make those around him smile. He also had a great passion for singing and loved sports. He was always known for being a kind and gentle man who was a kid at heart.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Crestview beginning at 10:00 a.m. A funeral service will follow 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will be held at Heritage Gardens Cemetery in Niceville, FL, with Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
