Hurricane Prep Volunteers Needed

Happy Summer FUMC!

As we watched the track of Elsa head up the East Coast, we are all aware we are into hurricane season!

Hurricane Prep.png

As we come upon the 3 year anniversary of Hurricane Michael which just missed us to the east, and

Hurricane Sally which just missed us to the west, and a separate storm which hit some of us and still

more on the west…we have seen the damage that can be done as far inland as we are. Survivors of

these storms are still cleaning up their properties…Santa Rosa County members of our district’s Crisis

Cleanup volunteers are out a few weekends every month trying to help people recover.

Given recent “Hurricane History” in the panhandle, the FUMC Trustees have decided it is time to update

our Disaster Preparedness checklists in the event a hurricane decides to head for the Hub City. We are

putting together checklists of tasks to be accomplished in the event the Church is in the path of a storm,

and one of the major tasks is to coordinate a team to help prepare the Campus. This checklist will

balance time and cost regarding what we can and cannot do to prepare…tasks will include things like

filling and placing sandbags, securing office equipment and technology away from windows, covering

windows, securing external signs for wind damage, etc.

If a storm is coming, we of course understand that Congregation members need to be preparing their

own homes as well, but we are hoping that “many hands” will make “light work” and enough people will

be able to come out to help prepare our campus. There will be jobs for all ages so it can be a family

project to come and help protect our beautiful church.

If you are willing to be on a team to help out in the event of a storm, please email Angie at

fumcrestview@gmail.com. And let’s all pray to our Lord that the team will not be needed and can be

reserved for other tasks in his name! Thank You All!

Covid Policy Update From Pastor Ronnie

Revised COVID Policy

Based on recent CDC changes in guidelines and the status of COVID in our area, the Long Range Planning Committee has decided that most of our COVID procedures are discontinued. Two exceptions will be that we will continue to do Holy Communion the way we’ve been doing it in the last few months and the Offering/Grace Notes will continue to be collected at the end of the service at the exits.

Masks and hand sanitizer will continue to be available to all at the entrances to worship.

We do have two requests as we move into this next phase.

Please Be Responsible. Make attendance and behavior decisions that are best for you. And as always, if you are not feeling well, please watch worship online and do not risk spreading anything at church.

Please Be Respectful. Some people will wish to continue to wear masks and we encourage them to do so if they like. Others will not wear a mask. Let’s respect people in the decisions which make them feel the most comfortable.

And as always, our policies may change in the future as conditions warrant.

Furthermore, as we’ve stated many times before, Online Worship Ministry is here to stay! The Well Service at 9:45 and the Traditions Service at 11 will continue to be streamed Live online on Facebook.

Morning Glory Early Service Changes: June 6

The early service will return to the Chapel on June 6. We will also shift back to 8:30 AM once we are in the Chapel (so remember to keep coming at 8:15 through the month of May).

Community Dinners will resume in July. We are not ready for covered dish dinners yet, but we will be offering meals again on a Wednesday evening every other month (same night as the Administrative Council Meeting). Always listen out for details in the future.

We look forward to many great things in the life of our church in the days and months ahead.

God is faithful, and we are so very grateful.

Pastor Ronnie
