Worship Through The Week- Tuesday

I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise will always be in my mouth. In a world filled with fear, we turn to you. We know that the one who takes refuge in you is truly happy and so we turn to you in refuge. Be with those who find themselves surrounded by fear. Be with refugees who seek safety, shelter and a place of rest. Deliver them from their fears. Move in the hearts and minds of people all around the world, that we might be ready with open arms to receive them and share the good news that, in you, we need not fear.

We need not fear because Jesus is our high priest who offered himself as the ultimate sacrifice. As we turn to our various political parties looking for our next savior, remind us that no candidate running for president can save us. It is you, Jesus, who can completely save us, for you are always alive and speaking on our behalf. Help us to put our whole trust in you, the one who has been made perfect forever.

Holy Spirit, let us be as Job who turned from ears that had heard about you to eyes that have seen you. We have so often spoken about things we do not understand. Help us to listen before we speak. Be with those who take time to listen. Be with school guidance counselors; give them ears to hear that they may attend to students’ needs. Be with therapists, help them to offer wise and measured counsel. Help us all to listen more carefully to one another and to you.

All this we pray in the name of the one who hears the very cries of our heart. We pray as he taught:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Scriptures supporting the prayer for Sunday, October 25 were Job 42:1-6, 10-17, Psalm 34:1-8, Hebrews 7:23-28, and Mark 10:46-52.

Have a good day in the Lord!
