Job Opening: Director of Children's Ministries

First United Methodist Church in Crestview, FL (www.fumcrestview.com) is seeking a Director of Children’s Ministries.  FUMC is dedicated to uniting the community of Crestview to the grace of Jesus Christ through worship, discipleship, and service – and we consider the discipleship of our children essential to this mission.

FUMC averages 300 people in weekly worship attendance, with outstanding facilities and a strong team of volunteer Children’s Ministry leaders. We have a strong track record of local missions and community support.

Currently, there are 35-40 children participating in our children’s programs with tremendous potential for growth. The Crestview-Destin-Fort Walton Metro area is one of the fastest growing metros in the United States.

The Director of Children’s Ministry will nurture the spiritual development of children (infants through 5th grade). This includes leading, staffing and resourcing the spiritual formation programs designed for children: Sunday school, VBS, confirmation, etc. Skill in the recruitment, equipping, and encouragement of adult teachers/leaders is an essential part of the job. The Director of Children’s Ministries will work closely with the volunteers of the Children’s Ministry Leadership Team, and with the Student Ministries Assistant (to be hired for the administrative support of the Children’s and Youth Ministries). First United Methodist Church is seeking an individual who has the following qualifications:

Prior experience and evidence of effectiveness in ministry with children (infants-5th grade).

A track record in the recruitment, equipping, and encouragement of adult teachers/leaders

An ability to build relationships with parents and equip them as partners in the spiritual development of their children.

Ability to lead a team with a positive spirit that supports the mission, vision, and core values of First United Methodist of Crestview.

Ability to lead people in short-term planning and especially in long-range planning.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong personal faith consistent with the United Methodist tradition. Although current membership in a United Methodist church is not required, the Director of Children’s Ministry will be expected to become a member of FUMC upon employment.

Candidates interested in applying to be part of the team at First United Methodist Church should email a letter of interest with an attached resume to Mr. Bob Jones, chairperson of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee: bobjones0413@gmail.com. Questions can be directed to the church office at 850-682-2018.

Applications should be submitted by March 18; we anticipate a negotiable start date of June 1, 2016.
