Job Opening: Director of Youth Ministries

First United Methodist Church in Crestview, FL (www.fumcrestview.com) is seeking a Director of Youth Ministries.  First United Methodist is dedicated to uniting the community of Crestview to the grace of Jesus Christ through worship, discipleship, and service, and we the discipleship of our youth is essential to this mission.

FUMC averages 300 people in weekly worship attendance, with outstanding facilities and a strong team of volunteer youth leaders. We have a strong track record of local missions and community support.

Currently, there are 35-40 youth participating in youth programs with tremendous potential for growth. The Crestview-Destin-Fort Walton Metro area is one of the fastest growing metros in the United States.

The Director of Youth Ministries will oversee the middle school and high school ministry (grades 6-12). This person will seek, build, and strengthen relationships with the youth, their families, and adult volunteers, as well as, enable relationships to be built between the youth and youth volunteers. The Director of Youth Ministries will nurture these relationships to ensure the youth are growing in their journey of becoming disciples of Jesus Christ. The Director of Youth Ministries will work closely with the Youth Ministry Team, and with the Student Ministries Assistant (to be hired for the administrative support of the Children’s and Youth Ministries).

First United Methodist Church is seeking an individual who has the following qualifications:

•    Prior experience and evidence of effectiveness in ministry with students in grades 6-12.

•    Ability to serve as a spiritual role model by demonstrating a commitment to Christian spiritual practices and by articulating a personal faith journey.

•    Ability to lead a team with a positive spirit that supports the mission, vision, and core values of First United Methodist of Crestview.

•    Ability to lead people in short-term planning and long-range planning.

•    Alignment with the beliefs and practices of the United Methodist Church.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong personal faith consistent with the United Methodist tradition. Although current membership in a United Methodist church is not required, the Director of Youth Ministry will be expected to become a member of FUMC Crestview upon employment.
